Preview:  I am going to embark on an almost daily round of short (or long) email exchanges.  K and Jan have even said they would make me my own (somewhat restricted I hope) web site or blogosphere to facilitate this endeavor.   What is the purpose?  (to the musical opening strains of the Lion King)  "There is more to do than can ever be done....more to see than can ever be seen....more to know than can ever be known...."     We ARE a family of learners and NEVER stop learning.  Fill your brain's hard drives and its "cloud storage" to the maximum".    With these posts you will learn along with me - trivia, humor, insights , etc..

Today's reminder:   First of every month, before any other spoken words say this out loud - Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit.   In doing so, you will set the stage for unexpected income or financial gain.  You will invariably get some money you did not expect.   Sort of works like praying to St. Anthony when looking for something lost.

Michamvi, Tanzania has a restaurant called the Rock that is situated on an offshore rock outcrop.   At low tide, you can walk to the restaurant on a sandy beach.   At high tide, you have to take a boat to get to the Rock for dinner.    My connection to this place is minor. But I have a work contact - Dr. Rob Barbour - who lives on tribal lands in northern Tanzania and now in his "retirement" runs and offers adventure tours, including annual treks to the top of Kenya's Mt.Kilimanjaro which is the tallest Mountain in Africa and one of the seven peaks to summit if your goal is to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents.    There are die-hard climbers that actually aspire to this and are in a rare club - since they have to climb Everest and one in Antarctica.     I leave it to you to learn and locate the names of all seven.    And, yes my brother John and I sort of have it on a whimsical bucket list to get with Dr. Rob and go on one of his safaris.    Oh yes, another bit of information.  Dr. Barbour is a former British Royal Marine doctor.   Think like Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes stories.   For Watson his tours were in Afghanistan / India. For Barbour, it was the Falklands War era.

Date:   1/28/2021 Dad Joke :   A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in Linoleum Blownapart.   (That is bad, but I like it as a “historyophile”.)     Random Thoughts on a Passing Scene:    It was so icy this AM from dew, humidity and generally damp peculiar weather that I had to abort my early AM walk. I simply was slipping with every step.   And, the fog was thicker than pea soup. Random Thoughts on a Passing Scene

  From January 14, 2021 Dad Joke :   My grandkids were very upset when our neighbor’s bunnies escaped.   (Pause)   They’re too young to deal with hare loss. Weather – generally a safe topic to start-off:    It has been an unseasonably warm and wet end of 2020 and start to 2021.   I have only had to shovel snow and use the snow-blower two times thus far this winter season.    I don’t know – along with most other old-timers – what a normal winter is anymore.   Yesterday, along with almost spring-like temps, a weather front with 70 mile-per-hour gusty winds roared through to blow over many trees and blow out the clouds.   Thus, today we bask in bright sunshine under glorious blue skies from horizon to horizon and not cold temps by any sense for mid-January.   Religion – generally a topic to approach with caution:    “You have to get right with Jesus; stay right with Jesus; don’t blow the ashes of a wasted life into...

 Date:   1/27/2021 Dad Joke :   She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still. (Oh, that is bad!) (From Kathryn) Tom Brady is once again appearing in the Super Bowl.   Bill Belichick is deflated. Random Thoughts on a Passing Scene:    Today, Jan and I are trying to sign-up for the first round of the Covid vaccination shots.   We have to get an assigned time-slot – along with about “eleventy-zillion” others in our county!   As I finished writing this post, my ace Executive Assistant (that would be JLOB) has me signed up for the first of my shots later this afternoon.   The game is afoot!   JLOB is scheduled for Saturday.   Whoo-Hoo! More to do than can ever be done :   Take the ferry boats from north Seattle out around the San Juan Islands.   The ferry boats that cross Lake Michigan between Michigan and Wisconsin are also worth “doing”.
